Benjamin Watyaba

Benjamin Watyaba is a medical doctor and a researcher at Uganda Virus Research since 2021. He is currently coordinating two studies: Clinical Characterization of Protocol for Covid-19 disease and implementation of Point of Care HIV viral load monitoring in East Africa.

Benjamin Watyaba is also the deputy head of HIV work package in the Eastern Africa Consortium for Clinical Research, one of the nodes of excellence under European Developing Countries Trial Partnership (EDCTP).

From 2016 to 2020, I worked as a general practitioner at Mengo Hospital, Kampala Uganda. I was the focal person for Sickle cell clinic and head of GPs for two years.

Education

Benjamin Watyaba has just completed the international masters in Vaccinology (IMVACC) and successfully defended his thesis entitled: “Assessing knowledge and reporting of adverse events following immunization” He also completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees (MBChB) from Makerere University in 2015.
